Evaluation 7

For our media project a two minute trailor had to be created.

When producing our preliminary task we were quiet new to all of the camera shots needed to be shot and which are used very well in real media products. Therefore we had to research around the shots and look at what needed to be included within our task. We then became familiar to all of camera shots which were needed and known for being in media products. These are the 180 degree rule, shot/reverse shot and the match on action shot.

This picture shows how a shot/reverse shot would look like when filmed and the position of the camera places. The Shot Reverse Shot is A film technique where one character is shown looking at another character , and then the other character is shown looking back at the first character. Since the characters are shown facing in opposite directions, the viewer assumes that they are looking at each other


180 degree rule- The 180° rule is a basic guideline in film making that states that two characters  in the same scene should always have the same left/right relationship to each other. If the camera passes over the imaginary axis connecting the two subjects, it is called crossing the line. 


Match on Action shot- A match on action shot is when some action occurring before the temporarily questionable cut is picked up where the cut left it by the shot immediately following. For example a person walking through a door. the first shot is a long shot of the subject walking throught the door, and using match on action shot, we place the camera inside that room to show the subject walking into the room through the door.

Evaluation 6

Throughout producing the media project I have learnt many things about different technologies which we have used and and i have learnt how they are used and how to construct media products.
The technologies we used in order to create our product were:

Blogger
Camcorder
Adobe Premiere Elements 7.0
YouTube
Paint
Microsoft Excel
Microsoft Word
Computers/Internet

                                                                                                               We used  a Camcorder in order to film our project. We learnt how to use the camcorder properly and how to shoot the camera angles needed correctly and safely in order to get the right shots and effects needed.

Premier elements pro 7.0 helped to develop my editing skills and through using this programme I had to overcome issues when using the software in order to produce a successful project. This enables the group to add certain and important effects and to allow the film to flow smoothly and create credits.

Blogger is the website where we created weekly blogs inn which our progress and the work we had done was recorded and broadcasted. This allowed me to format and edit blogs and keep them in a order so i knew what i had done and when.

We used YouTube greatly to help us create a successful blog. We used YouTube at the beginning of our project to find video comparisons for our deconstructions which relate to our chosen genre. And we managed to find some that were suitable to compare to our chosen genre and different types of genres. We also used YouTube to make our project known to worldwide audiences to allow feedback to be given, and help us for the future.

I used Microsoft excel and Microsoft word to create the graphs for the results of our questionnaires. This was a very easy and quick way of producing the graphs successfully in order for them to be placed on my blog correctly and clearly.

Evaluation 5

To begin with, we started by handing out 20 questionnaires to find out abit about our audience and what they liked. We then gathered all the other information from the questionnaire until we came to an aggreement of what we wanted but also of what the audience may want. We then changed it to satisfy us and the audience.

We then researched about what our aged audience wanted in a drama film and found out alot of evidence which could be used within our drama film. Our research then became a big part of our piece as we found out more information in which we then included.

Also we could link our film to another film like Adulthood which is well known, this became easy to then get more people to view our information and gave us more of a wider range of research to include into our piece. In the end, our piece came from the audience as it was everything they asked for and what they believed would be a good piece.

The group was able to address our audience by exporting our opening scene into a movie file on our software, this then was uploaded onto a website called Youtube. Once our opening scene was on Youtube we could then share our product with others by using a URL. This allowed many people watch and comment on our opening piece.

Evaluation 4



This is an example of what our target audience will look like, he is the same age as the group who have filmed the piece and he watched the film closely then filled out an audience feedback questionnaire. Whilst being the age that he is, this gives us the advantage that we can then show him footage which could not be shown to people under the age of 15. And he is the perfect age to relate and give the group any ideas of improvements or negative or positive points to the piece.

Evaluation 3

A production company is responsible for the developmennt and the physical production of the film, out and onto the shelves. Usually the producers of the film sorts out the next stage and where the film will go within the future. Usually, a budget is needed and fortunately we had a budget for our project but this was a very low amount of money compared to the movies nowadays. Although, most of the props and costumes used were already owned by a member of the group and was not needed to be purchased.

Researching into the coventions of media nowadays, our film may be distributed by a big company judging by our genres it follows the key elements that is needed from a drama film. Things like violence and alcohol helped create the sense of the genre being drama. In order to promote our film we will need to use something called 'viral marketing' so that our film will get well known. 'Viral marketing' is the way that producers accidentally release screen shots or pictures/ clips of their film in oredr to promote it so that it will beome more well known before even being released.

Blogspot has already helped promote our movie. By uploading all our work and clips onto our blogs, anyone can view it and this will then allow them to then follow us. Due to them following us, any new information or even any new movies we deide to make will come up on the followers wall and then they will be able to view the next film. They may then tell other people about it, and eventually the film will become more popular and recognised.

Evaluation 2

My media product represents the sociol group of gangs and thugs, also people who are not having a good time in life.

The person and character i have chosen to select from my opening piece is Logan Downes as he is one of the main characters and is seen alot by the audience. This is also good comparing him as he is shown as a typical thuggish boy. Being in the film alot enables the audience to make a judgement of the character.
I have chosen the main character out of 'Kidulthood' to compare with Logan. This is because they relate in the way in which their character acts and what sort of style used.

Costume: In the terms of costume, they are both wearing similar and typical thuggish clothes, hood, jeans etc, which they would wear in everyday life. They are wearing this as they are just living their normal day lifes and dont expect the happenings to happen in which they do. This also makes it realistic.

Role with the film: This is wierd as both characters roles are ver similar. With in our film Logan is the enemy of everyone else and just wants to fight to resolve problems and hurt other people. This is similar to Kidulthood as also the main character shown above is an emeny of everyone who knows him and he also looks for fights and bullying to resolve problems and people.

Overall: The characters are very similar and portrayed by the audience in the same way, they wear the same clothes and have the same style of talking walking and acting.

Evaluation 1


Title of the film:
Once we had chosen the genre of our piece, being drama, we then began to think of names we could call our piece. We wanted a title which was appropriate and popular towards teenagers. Soon after locating our plot and storyline we based everything around our title, so it all linked together. Our title is very original and once looked at by the audience they should be able to recognise what the film will be about and what genre it is. The title is 'Inevitable', this is very orginal as there is not a drama film out with this title, the title is very thorough and means it is bound to happen in the end.

Setting/ location:
Our setting and location was used at Daniel's house as we wanted the setting to be realistic so that it looks like a real life situation. Having our film filmed in a real life situation in the street and the house gave a very realistic and relative feel. In relation to the conventions of media and real media products, this is a crucial element of which a real film producer can obviously create, and by us having the permission in order to film at the home location we were able to create this realistic factor.

Costumes and props:
We didn't need many props or costumes as we wanted the piece to be realistic so we just used what the characters were already wearing and also introduced certain things when needed. We used beer bottles to create the natural teenage gathering home feeling.

Camera work and editing:
When we was filming we used a tripod to make our camera filming more steady and accurate so that our piece looked more effective. Also we used the cameras shake to use by when we followed Logan running down the road, we shook the camera so that the audience felt like they was there and following behind him. We also tried to add all the shots required, for example, the over the shoulder shot. When editing it took us a while as we added sound, special effects and many more useful effects to make our piece look better and create a better outcome.

Story and how the opening sets it up:
We decided that when we was filming we did not have to stick to our script or storyboard as the more of it that was improvised, the more realistic it began to look. The beginning of our piece is very calm and relaxed but as soon as Logan is introduced, the audience will know that something bad is going to happen due to the music and the change in atmosphere. The audience will then be left anxious and nervous, wanting to know what will happen next.

Genre and how the opening suggests it:
Our genre is drama, as i have said, this links closely towards our sound which is a very fast paced track as the tension is building up. The opening has lots of drinking and a bit of swearing which is what typical drama films have to represent the feel of the rough ends of reality in life. We chose the genre of drama as we feel we best suited to this and believe we could gain the most experience and realistic effects from this genre and also this is fun to act out and film drama genre films.

How characters are introduced:
The audience is instantly introduced to the group of boys in the house, which the whole piece is based around. we introduced them at the beginning so that straight from the start the audience knew who was who and what their meaning was. Half way through another boy is introduced, and this is done by using a big exaggerated entrance, showing the audience that he will be an important character.

Special effects:
We used many effects throughout our piece when we edited to get the best footage possible so that we could get the audience to pay attention and fix on. Also we added music in the background to create tension and set the tone and feeling of the characters, slow calm when things are going good. Fast when something is about to happen. This indicates to the audience that something exciting is about to occur.

Target Audience

As a group, we have decided that our chosen target audience should be teenagers as our film informs them about violence and alcohol as there is alot of this going on at the moment in society in which they can relate to. Also it s  a 15+ as some of the content is not suitable for people below this age, for example swearing and violence. Once we found out who our target audience was, we then could adapt our footage so that it became more appealing towards our specified age group. 

Audience Feedback Questionnaire


We produced a audience feedback questionnaire in which to find out what we could improve, 
to gain more and better marks and also what we need to do better if we was going to make
 another piece of a 2 minute footage. We found out what went well and what we need to improve,
 our audience which fillled out the questionnaires were told to be very honest in their answers so
 we get the best possible feedback that we could have got.


1. What would you rate our film out of 10? (10 being the highest)













As you can see from the results, six and seven are equal with 8 people voting this each and eight with four people voting this. This is good as it shows the film is in the top half of the rating marks but also this tells me that there is room for improvement to be made in the future.


2. Do you think our film has got everything required that a drama film should have?

Yes        Most things        Some things        No      




















The results of this questions allows me to see that only 20% said yes, so there is some things missing, 30% said some things which is a good things as it shows us that we are on the right lines and not off the target of a drama piece, 50% with the biggest vote said most things, showing that only a couple of things are missing to make this drama piece complete.



3. Does our film have lots of different types of shots that should be included?

Yes        No        Only some, not all





























These results, 80% of people do believe we covered all of the right shot types needed which is good as it tells me that a variety and correct techniques were used. With only 20% saying that i have some shots but not all, is good as this is a small percentage but i will have to ask what shots they believe are missing.

With the scores being low and the highest being four, this tells me that the shake on the camera wasnt to bad, and that my filming was a success and a steady process. This was accomplished through using a tri pod for the camera to rest on. The majority of the feedback put '1' making this very positive.

6. Do you believe the use of background Music helped set the theme?

Yes       No       In some areas

















This questions allows me and the group to see if the use of background music helped set the theme and create the atmosphere. from the results the 75% of people believed it did and it helped alot, a small percentage said it did not help and bigger than no but small than yes, people said it helped in some areas, telling us that music is a good idea but knowing when to use it is key.


7.  Is there anything we could improve to make Our film better in your opinion? please state.
