Zombieland Part 1
The third Film and Genre we are looking at is Zombieland and is a comedy. The rating of this film is a 15 due to scenes of violence, bad language and gory footage. It was produced in 2009 meaning it is a fairly recent and modern film, meaning that no prequels or sequels have been made yet. Zombieland was produced to entertain the audiences with comedy and a good storyline. This has been successful due to most nowadays most zombie films are very serious, but this one is a comedy and brings a sense of humour and a jokingly atmosphere to the film.
This first part of the video only has part of the opening scene, the rest of the opening scene is shown is 'part 2'. Part 1 includes credits. Through out the whole of part 1 credits there are lots of slow motion clips. This is to introduce the happenings of what the film will be based on, so the audience is aware of what they are about to watch. The slow motion is used to create an atmosphere and express the happenings more. The credits themselves are in the same style and format as the movie title itself, this indicates that the people who produced the film are proud and see their selves as important as the film itself. Also at the start and all the way through this short clip a rock type of music is playing to create a high tempo atmosphere and to show that this film is going to be very active and not a relaxed, chilled film. Also the music flows with the action all the way through the credits as the motion is slow and is perfectly matched with the music in the back round.
The Actors are clearly zombies due to the having thick blood around their mouths and on their clothes, also the way they are actions for example running differently and acting in a strange manor. Were as the actors who play the survivors have a clear presentation of normal person personality with relevant, tidy clothes. Also the zombies are acting in a disturbed angry manor, but non-zombiefied people are acting normal and in a sociolble manor.
Through out the clip provided, there are many different screen shots, which occur. First of all when the man is shown jumping off the stairs away from the zombie, this is a long shot being shot. There is a close up of the zombie which allows the audience to see the detail and emphasise that he is a zombie and looks evil and out of control, there is also a highway in the back round showing that while everything goes on people are unaware there is a terrifying zombie on the loose in the city. Next the women is running away from the zombie and spills her drink, this is a mid shot being captured. Three zombies being helpless, as a couple run away in the back round then attack a homeless man with a sign. The next scene shown is at a wedding when the bride jumps at and attacks the groom. Next is a chase with the zombie behind the man as she breaks and smashes the glass in front of him to try and get away, this is a mid shot. As the glass smashes so does the title of the film 'zombieland' this then splits into half to. There is then a long shot of a man running away from the zombies as suitcase of money gets thrown and flies up into the air, this shows the desperation to get away, that even money doesn’t matter any more. There is then a close up on the police who are trying to keep control on the zombie by using riot shields. This shows that the zombies are very powerful. Then there is a shot showing men running away from a strip club with a stripper following chasing the men. After that there is a mid shot of a mechanic being attacked by a zombie while he is trying to work. Next is a shot of a dad and son running away from other dads and sons who have just been in a three-legged race, this is a long shot being used and a running track is being showed in the back round. There is then a mid shot of a man running away from a zombie looking terrified. A long shot is then shown of two firemen, one running away and a person (could be the zombie) running away who is set on fire but not concerned or in pain. Next there is a mid shot of a smartly dressed man in a suit shooting and defending himself unaware that a zombie is running at him in the back round. Lastly the credits finish with a man falling and diving through glass, with blood splattering and splashing over the view. Through out all of the credits every credit shown is moved either being smashed, flipped, twisted or broke into pieces to show and inflict that the credits are inside the scene and involved in the shots used.
