ZombieLand Rules Part 2 (Comedy)
Zombieland Part 2
This is the Second part of the opening to Zombieland. This part is past the credits and starts by including and telling the audience some key points on how to avoid being eaten and turned into a zombie. Through out sections of the opening 1:55 big bold colourful writing appears which are the points on how to survive, this addresses the audiences. Also the audience is addressed through the way the man in the film is explaining and talking over the footage on what he means by the rules on how to survive and speaks as if there is a guide and order on what to do, to achieve this. With in the opening of the film after every rule that pops up on the screen, an example of what could happen if you don't b n follow that rule is shown and each consequence shown leads on to the next rule in the guide.
This clip starts with the background person explaining that he is now going to tell the audience the 'rules'. The first scene has a lot of effects in it; first of all as he announces the first rule and it appears on the screen saying 'cardio' this then starts beating on the screen as if it is a heart, adding effect. Next there is a wide shot of the man, the zombie and part of the sports pitch, this shows the man running away and tells the audience what location they are at. The man carries on being chased by the zombie and this then becomes slow motion to express the man's facial expressions and to show that he is terrified. After this there is a long shot camera shot, this is used to show the scenery and that no one is around so the place is a ghost town, it also shows that the zombies can attack at any time. The next shot is a close up on the zombies face as he tears into the mans face, this shows a lot of detail on the zombies face and lets the audience know that the zombie is out of control.
The next scenery is in the streets as two cars crash a birds eye view shot is produced to show the havoc of the crash and what the zombies have done to the street. After this a zombie is then hit by a car in slow motion relating to the havoc, which has been encountered, and to show that people are doing anything to escape from them. The man then introduces the next point by carrying on talking to the audience, which is 'double tap'. As he introduces the rule the title 'double tap' appears on the screen and as he saying the phrase, gun bullets are shot at a zombie which is running next to the on-screen phrase and the bullets go into the title as if it has been shot as well as the zombie. The camera then goes onto a still motion of a zombie, which is believed to be dead, but then jumps back up and goes back into a moving motion.
The opening then goes into the scene of a toilet block, through out most of this scene there is a mysterious and horror like sound to build up tension. The first shot used is a bird’s eye view shot, which shows the man on the toilet minding his own business and reading a book. The next shot is a mid close up which shows the mans face as he see's the zombie and the man becomes shocked and looks very anxious the shot also shows some of the toilet background. After this the zombie is shown using a close up shot to show the audience his face in details, showing the blood streaming from his mouth. The next rule then pops up on the screen.
The first shot of the next scene is a close up focusing on to a women’s hand trying to get the keys into the ignition to start the car up and get away from the zombies, the camera shows her shaking this tells the audience she is frightened and the zombies are terrifying. The next shot used is a wide shot when the car drives of and girls follow and chase the vehicle from behind, this shows us what’s going on and the scenery around the on going event. After this a close up is used again focusing on one specific little car toy, the shot shows it shaking, which builds up tension making the audience know something is about to happen. The scene then goes into slow motion as a car crashes into a lorry, a women then fly’s out of the windscreen and this is also slow motion as she 'fly’s' through the air, the speed then picks up as she hits the floor and slides across the road causing the women to die due to being edgy and determined to get away from the zombies, speeding and not wearing a seat belt. As she slides along the road a bird’s eye view shot is used, this also enables the next rule to come up on the screen, which is 'seatbelts'. The clip ends with a still motion of the women dead on the floor due to not wearing a seat belt and the lorry behind, showing what caused this.
